Did you know that carrots were first grown as a medicine and not a food? They were first grown in Afghanistan around 900 A.D. They’re made up of 88% water, and contain a natural sugar, called fructose. This is different than the sugar found in less healthy foods, like candy, so no worries here!

Did you know the scientific name for banana is “musa sapientum”? This confusing word means “fruit of the wise men.” After learning more about the nutritional benefits of bananas below, I think you would agree that it’s pretty “wise” to eat them! Here’s another crazy fact: the plants that bananas grow on aren’t actually considered trees, but a type of herb. They sure look like trees, don’t they? India is the worlds leader in banana production, but in the U.S., it’s Hawaii.
